This Year's Beneficiaries

This year, the Class of 2027 will partner with United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley’s Community Schools United initiative at Dorothy Height Elementary School. The project’s theme is “Changing the Narrative to Grow Stronger Families.” The group aims to inspire and enable individuals to write a narrative for their lives that builds stronger families and, in turn, stronger communities. The Class of 2027 plans to do this through a three-pronged approach that includes building a garden, mentoring young authors, and supporting family engagement programs. The goals for this project are to increase confidence, creativity, and life skills, and to build a stronger community of learning for students and families.

During the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters, the Class of 2027 will partner with United Way's Community Schools United initiative and Dorothy Height Elementary School to implement this three-pronged project. Through their service at Dorothy Height, the Class of 2027 aims to build confidence, creativity, life skills, family engagement, and a stronger community of learning for students and families. Specific project outcomes include establishing a student gardening club, supporting young authors in becoming published writers, contributing to at least three family engagement opportunities, and supporting the school's efforts to improve student attendance.
